Aleksandra Waliszewska, Untitled (Kot pali fajkę)
Aleksandra Waliszewska Untitled (Kot pali fajkę), 2023 Oil on canvas · 100 × 80 cm

Waliszewska runs a small, menacing world where a cat can smoke a pipe and it still reads as a warning. She works close to folklore, dream and dread, in a register that is funny and frightening in the same breath. Her cult following reaches far past Poland, from the art world into music and fashion.
